IE9 is basically good enough for the average user at this point, but like you said there is nothing in it that makes it better for anything compared to Chrome or Firefox. So even for the grandma I'd still rather put a better browser on.

Agreed. Sure it must be more common than 1152x864?

A system that allows easy faking of sender, spamming millions of people and is just a huge mess of terrible implementations (and specs) is broken. That said, so are the users. I agree with your points and I wish people used email more like actual letters - you wouldn't write a letter without considering what you're

I use Google Reader only on Windows and in its own window via Chrome's application shortcuts. It opens those truncated articles in a new tab in the main Chrome window so for me it's not a problem.

For movies and TV shows:

The disturbing thing about this is that it can put tools in hands of people who have absolutely no eye for design. Just look at what happened with MySpace and extensive customization. In the best case iOS app developers get an easy tool to make quick UIs for basic stuff. In the worst case the App Store is flooded with

You can plug in a bluetooth keyboard in most tablets and I think there was a jailbreak mouse application for iOS at least. :D

You can program your own software for iOS and Android without putting them in the marketplace or app store. The only real flaw with app stores is that finding stuff at the moment is really awkward because there's so much shit software available with no demo/trial versions to help weed out the crap stuff.

Shining shoes is not messy at all if you know what you're doing.

I also haven't used an antivirus software since Vista. For XP sure because it's a leaking boat of shit but Win7 and Vista are inherently more secure to begin with. Common sense and computer knowledge goes a long way in keeping your computer safe. For the average user I'd also install Microsoft Security Essentials

Keyboard shortcuts for one are much more consistent between programs and also placed better in general. Overall there is this consistency in programs (excluding Adobe and MS Office) that makes OSX nice to use. You can usually expect to find things in the same places, behind the same shortcuts and function the same way

Isn't Windows more like something you tolerate rather than truly love ? Mostly because it happens to run your favorite program(s). OSX is far from perfect (Finder is a piece of shit for one) but it's still a lot more intuitive and definitely easier to use and like than any version of Windows so far.

Yeah it's a cheap move from Apple, plain and simple. You'd think they'd take that into account when designing the device. If it is a case of Qualcomm just not offering a chip that does the job, I wouldn't be surprised if the iPads were silently updated when such a chip comes available.

Those look like two preamp tubes so yes, the effect is mostly going to be bullshit. The thing people don't seem to understand is that tubes don't mean the same thing as vinyl records etc. I've heard plenty of tube hifi amps that just sound great but don't seem to color the sound in any way.

Haptic feedback, TRUE haptic feedback (not that vibrating device shit), would be the kicker that makes me finally buy one. The biggest issue with touchscreen devices right now is that they have no physical feel. With haptic feedback you could feel the keys on the virtual keyboard etc.

OLED will still have the same sample and hold effect LCD/Plasma have because they don't flicker really quickly like CRTs do. Yes, OLEDs will have better image quality, negligible input lag and response time.

I just cut it in half on the side, pull it apart (so the full core usually ends up on one side), cut around the core at the top and rip it off. I find this leaves you with most of the parts you want intact.

Gaming PC? With that crappy GPU? I think not, especially at the absurd price.

What MS ignored is that for desktop displays, getting something with a high res is generally so that you can fit more stuff on screen at once. I went to a single 30" 2560x1600 display because I wanted to get away from the problems multiple monitors can have. With the Metro UI, all that space is dedicated to viewing

These are so USA-centric that I couldn't discern anything but the tabasco bottle.
