I think there have even been studies that say that spending some time with distractions helps you relax and actually makes you more productive. Of course that means you can't be on Facebook all day.

Depending on the room there may be all kinds of reverberations or sound sucking standing waves. While the sofa helps a lot, putting on a rug between your sofa and home theater can help too. Book shelves filled with books are also good for preventing standing waves.
Very few 3D games will age well because many were so heavily tied to what was possible with the hardware at the time. They must have the gameplay really right to get played. For example Call of Duty 2 is pretty old and doesn't look as good as the latest ones but it does look decent and above all it's much more fun to…
Well, considering the only real difference to the 2010 model is slower GPU and the 2011 only has Thunderbolt, faster CPU and GPU...hardly steam powered at all!
I find myself skipping at least a generation, sometimes even two, of updates. For example I was considering upgrading to the latest Macbook Pros but since the update didn't bring anything truly significant (higher res display for the 13" wouldn't been it for me) I'm sticking to my mid-2009 MBP. It's fast enough so…
Good thing the scrollbar now makes Macbook trackpads and the Magic Mouse scroll at the correct speed. Was way too fast before.
Path Finder (Finder is awful)
It's a fact that no other laptop has as good a trackpad as the Macbooks.
"Memory available to Mac OS X may vary depending on graphics needs. Minimum graphics memory usage is 384MB." is what it says in the footnotes of Apple's MBP tech specs page.
Yeah, that's complete bollocks. Internet should be declared as its own market not governed by whatever media companies have agreed in various country or continent based markets.
MAMP for OSX makes it as easy as WAMP for Windows.
They really should adopt the way OSX does it. Standard Apple installers for apps that require writing in non-user locations (for example if a kernel extension is needed) and for everything else just drag into /Applications. The app icon IS the app package. There is absolutely no reason why the average user should be…
OSX: Mouse acceleration. The default is just plain awful. Either the cursor moves like it's stuck in mud or it flies around screen uncontrollably. Thankfully there's Steermouse or USB Overdrive to fix it. Why Apple keeps this awful acceleration curve I have no idea.
Turning off the minimize/maximize/window opening animation in Vista/Win7. It makes the UI feel much faster because windows just pop up instantly instead of the way too slow animation used normally. If only MS tuned it so it was really fast it would be kinda nice eye candy but in its current state the animation just…
Having competent designers isn't good enough though. The last few UIs from Nokia have been half-decent, but there have been absolutely no signs of excellence in either hardware or software design on their phones for a long time.
It looks nice but does it really do anything that I can't simply do by using Fluid to turn Gmail's web interface into a desktop app running in its own window, icon, dock badges and everything?
How about just thinking while typing? Deliberately learning to type words correctly. Also having a good grip on grammar helps.
"I just got a Touchpad!"
It reminds me of the epileptic crap in Call of Duty Black Ops.
To me having haptic feedback for the keyboard would be very important. I know it's in development by various manufacturers but still probably a few years away.
