Because he’s not pretending that what he writes is true when it isn’t. His books are published and marketed as fiction, which they are. Frey’s book was published and marketed as memoir/self-help, when large chunks of if were fiction. That’s the difference.

I didn’t bother to look it up, and thought it was another guy with the same name as the comedian.

There are lots of high end prostitutes who are doing what they do of their own free will. There’s plenty in Boston, and in Miami, and they’re probably willing to run up the road to Palm Beach.
