Walkmen are broken up, Flaming Lips haven’t been great for a long time (and their subsequent releases have pressed the question—how good were they really during their prime?), LCD have aged very very poorly, and while I like the National I also think they’re past their prime.

oh it looks good, don’t get me wrong! there’s a very classic, tried-and-true appeal in the art design. but i would still absolutely describe the series (and definitely the screenshot you posted) as “bland.”

and let’s be real—the games are fun and excel in the writing department, but they’ve always been very visually bland. i have zero problems if someone can run with the concepts and make them look more interesting

big disagree. the movie shook me in a way i haven’t felt since i was a kid watching horror films, and i’d probably call horror my favorite genre of film. 

there was never a question of “is it horror or mental illness,” it’s very explicit from the getgo something supernatural is happening. mental illness compounds it, but so does intense grief and repression.

in real life you don’t think you’re in a horror movie though. why would these be red flags? i’ve never been murdered by a scandinavian cult nor have i ever heard of that happening, so it’s not like i would have any point of reference to work off of.
