I was thinking the same thing. I have little sympathy for someone’s culture being “appropriated” when those same peoples (their people) we’re responsible for the enslavement of Africans.

That’s not the case for me. For me it’s purely geographic. Looking at a map Maryland and Virginia are mid-Atlantic states.

Interestingly I’m a Louisiana native living 2 hours souff of VA. I was actually just in the Norfolk/Hampton/Newport News/Portsmouth/Apparently 40 other cities crammed into one last weekend. The only thing “southern” about VA is how dirty it is. VA is on the east coast. Y’all just happen to be below the Mason Dixon…
