Except its NC, so god only knows if you can even convict someone of murdering black people anymore there.

How about a spy show. Only instead of a suave, international secret agent...it’s a dude in a pickup truck. In Nebraska.

Um....Breaking Bad? Friday Night Lights?

I don’t know. I think it’s just cool to have a Wonder Woman comic that acknowledges all of these themes that were inherent in her creation and have been slowly...whitewashed? Manwashed? I don’t know. A lot of people who are pretty hard core comic fans have no idea that this was ever a part of her character, and now

“Putting race on a cyborg.”

They were casing the place before they called the gunman in and couldn’t leave right before, because that would have been too suspicious. See the way each of them holds their hand up in the direction of the camera? That’s also what the kissing was for, to keep them in profile to the surveillance tapes. It looks like

A lot of people seem to be mad at David Hayter. He's not badmouthing Kojima (at least not in this quote). He's just saying he identifies strongly with the project and would like to keep working on it. Personally I feel for him. I can't imagine being dropped from a creative project I worked so hard to help define

Dude, you totally smushed together the Marvel Knights and MAX runs by Ennis, as if they were exactly the same. Maybe it's just my taste (I hope not) but as much as I love the comedic tone he played with in KNIGHTS, I really feel like Punisher MAX was one of the single greatest comic book runs any character got to star

What a beautiful critical essay, and a great argument for checking out these books immediately. I will go read Days of Atonement now. It is interesting, as a man, I find my online voice to be moving in a similar direction to what you describe, full of qualifications and preambles, and attempts at being more sensitive

This story is...disheartening to say the least. Those poor people. But great reporting.

I don’t think you understand the degree to which Hollywood intermingles the various roles and responsibilities of film production. Almost all major actors also produce and occasionally direct, the directors right. Everyone important enough to warrant a prominent seat where the camera can see them wears about six

Anecdotal evidence doesn’t make it true...but actually I totally agree with you. It seems like often when some entitled asshat asks me to do something outside the bounds of etiquette or common sense it is because age and accumulated wealth have insulated them from the consequences of recognizing other people's

Also I don't know how to use the fancy block quotes thing. I looked everywhere and feel really dumb, but I can't make it work.

It’s funny, because if you actually read that first article you posted, it’s clear that he is struggling with the ethics of a filibuster, and doing it mainly to raise awareness about the nominee as opposed to any sense his actions will effect the outcome.

We should take off the "funny or die tag" and send this to the ultra-right conspiracy nuts as proof that their messiah has been co-opted by the Lizard Illuminati.

Spectacularly thoughtful and well-written article, I think I will be citing it for years to come. Well done.

Great works don’t need copyright protection to maintain their significance. They can withstand the tests of parodies and “profiteers.” People still read Solomon Northrup, they will read Anne Frank and Solzhenitsyn once their work is in the public domain as well.

You make it sound like your childhood kind of sucked...I’m sorry. Seriously though, that may be at least part of the difference. People with more unhappy childhoods embrace responsibility and maturity more quickly, if not necessarily more competently. I’m not sure, it’s just a theory.
