Held back by its drivetrain?
The original xB was technically a one off. Toyota never came out with something similar afterward. In the USA, they chose the 2nd generation xB from something existing in Toyota’s line up as drh3b mentions.
Did you make a mistake on your response? If you did that’s ok.
TBH I think a 1JZ-GTE would make more sense. 2.5L Turbo can put out a good 400 rwhp reliably. The engine was available up until the end of the Mark II Blit. Detuned and using twin.
My IS300 has been waiting 17 years, it can wait a little longer.
A rooftop tent immediately renders that bit useless. Agreed, the only useful part of having a sunroof is being able to get to rack mounts or wiring for solar and lights.
I think we can have a discussion about a revised 2JZ-GTE.
Indeed. Integration isn’t necessarily the best course. I think in terms of design, there’s a lot of room to be creative, especially in the reuse of parts. I think the fact that there’re fewer common parts and more specialized parts has given rise to not only increased vehicle costs but increased repair costs across…
i mean i suppose, but a 3-cylinder turbo isn’t a bad idea in general. everyone else does it cheap, why couldn’t Toyota?
yeah, loss leader works everywhere else. I want my $1.50 costco hotdog and a drink ZZW30.
You’re not wrong.
I think the ECamper is 130lbs. But yeah, the Element only had about 800lbs of payload, that’s why there were only 2 seats and not 3. The car maintained its handling really well though. The Crosstrek is 1000-1100lbs additional payload, so they can handle that 5th person pretty easily.
Perhaps as a plugin hybrid? Look at how the Rav4 Prime worked out. 5.4 seconds 0-60, plus tons of torque all the way to the quarter mile.
I can’t disagree with you regarding the formula. But yeah, I actually want the Silvia which is basically like this:
If only Toyota brought the Crown or even the Mark series here.
Agreed here, w/ the MR-S they could honestly drop the spare tire, put in a 2kw lithium battery, add a mild hybrid motor generator, throw in a 3-CYL G16E-GTS from the GR Yaris, and destroy the track.
yeah and imagine being stuck w/ a subaru instead where the starters end up going in 3 years, or the engines blow up around 100k.
How can anyone expect me to buy it new with that atrocious ass grill?
Tho tbh, if I had my druthers, I’d say that the 70-series that never even made it here needs to come here first before the FJ Cruiser is refreshed.
Since everyone else already has the FJ, RX7, and MR2, I’ll present the Nissan Silvia.
