Wouldn’t it be ironic if it were a gov’t conspiracy to thin the herd? In the Mad Men era, people would find out they had lung cancer too late at Stage IV and the only measures taken against it were palliative.

The other issue is that Toyota and Nissan don’t have much in terms of hybrids for their Body on Frame(BOF) type vehicles. Electric assist would be amazing. Honda made a hybrid manual transmission, similar technology could be fitted on these vehicles.

That’s an interesting note. I haven’t had any experience with Nissan’s offerings. But I do have some issues with the Toyota Tacoma’s first gear on driveways sometimes. On certain slanted and extra steep ones, I occasionally have to use my Low Range gear option on my transfer case to move the vehicle w/o burning the

Transverse RWD. 🤔

I understand the argument that the cars are more expensive to produce. But at the same time, a manufacturer can be true to its roots and also make a change from FWD to RWD and stay profitable.

I mean to be fair, it is a Land Rover Discovery.  That in and of itself makes it so much more believable.
