The console thinks its a controller, it does not recognise it as a XIM. There is no way to do a check as there is nothing to check. If they did add some sort of hardware signature there would probably be some sort of update to have the XIM clone that within a week.

Because it’s not a setting in the console to have an alternate input, if console makers ban or try to segregate XIM users, XIM will respond by making their hardware mimic that of a controller even more so it can’t be detected.

Oculus is the problem, the Vive understands that it is a peripheral. The Oculus Rift on the other hand is trying to make exclusives and should not be bought to not encourage such horrible behavior.

I have a 2006 987 that I got with 70k miles on it and cost wise it has not been to bad. You really want a 987 as opposed to a 986 as the 986 has a problem with its transmission (and it’s shape is ugly).
