Dogs are -extremely- effective.. they can be trained to detect just about anything you could possibly imagine. They cover huge areas and large numbers of people extremely quickly and you won't have parents accusing TSA agents of sexual assault when the dog sniffs the air near their kid.

Are they hiding among us? no... are there life forms on earth that didn't originate here? could be, but not in the intelligent sentient type way. With all the stuff that has crashed into our planet over its lifetime, it's entirely possible that some of it carried with it some sort of life form from elsewhere.

just to be clear here.. searing isn't 'sealing' anything. It does add flavor, but it's because we like the taste of very slightly charred meat. It doesn't make the meat juicer, it keep it from 'losing' flavor, it just adds some.
