Disagree with second. I don't think horror has always been about sensational "scares".

Genre debates really are tiresome. Even the filmmaker admitted he had to make it seem like a "horror" "movie" so he could secure funding. Does it have elements of horror? Yeah. Would it pass a purist's test? Don't know, don't care.

Indeed, A24 appear to be undergoing ascent. (Under, ascent?) I was a bit surprised The Witch made it to my town. Did Ex Machina open in limited release, or do people just like horror more than sci-fi?

The Prestige really is solid. The plot twists and tonal shifts are very well-executed.
