Because a top trim level fit is $17k and throwing the Si motor would make it a couple grand more. A Civic Si is $22k, and would likely be slower than the Fit Si. It would cut the balls off of Civic Si sales.

I haven't been keeping up, but that turbo 1.5 used to be based on the D series motors. Did they change it to be based off the fit motor?

As the proud owner of an $800 pickup, I will admit to driving like an asshat in it. It's mostly due to the fact that I can not hurt it. The only body panel without a dent is the roof.
