Elway, the guy that drafted him because he was his son’s roommate and the only reason he got paid for 4 years to do nothing? I’m thinking the benching was a Kubiak decision. Kubiak is has a knack for disastrously juggling QBs.

They can trade him to Denver. I hear they’re looking.
Can’t blame him for leaving after getting benched for the playoffs. After 4 years he may have felt that this was his chance to show his worth, only to be denied that chance. He may well have felt that Elway didn’t have any faith in him.
Your general point is correct. In this specific instance, with a dude who has nicknamed himself “football” and rubs fake money after plays, it is a bit harder to take. He’s hard to root for, like it or not. I think this is the classic “Addict who has burned through all help offered to him.”
Because he’s worn the mantle of entitlement-fueld assholery for far longer than he has the mantle of addict, the former is what takes hold in the public mind. Whether the addiction was present earlier is unknown. *That’s* why he gets so little sympathy.
He’s definitely got a problem. But he also seems like a dickhead. Not every alcoholic is a good guy. (Just my dad)
Really, I hope he lands on his feet and gets back on the field soon.
His delinquency and substance abuse were carefully cultivated by his family. They gave him every opportunity to screw up and took the blame or threw their weight around and got him out of the punishment. They gave him the booze when he was underage, they gave him the venues for the HS parties. They gave him his future…
I think you’re also limiting the impact of the lifelong case of Affluenza that he’s had since he was a child. He clearly feels like he’s untouchable and numerous times has acted to rub it in the face of his employer, media critics, and fans. His Affluenza is what prevents everyone else from having sympathy for him.
Johnny has been given every opportunity to correct his habits. Its difficult to feel bad for someone who refuses to do anything to make their lives better. If he hasn’t been able to get his act together, there’s not much hope for him right now. He’s put himself on this path to failure.
Manziel brought this on himself. If you paid someone and they did a crappy job through their own disdain and lousy work ethic, why wouldn’t the employer seek remedy.

If only someone had seen this totally unexpected burnout coming.
Always some sort of drama happening with those Gilmour girls
I can sympathize, I never scored when I was in high school either :(
Listen, you can’t have 50 luxury boxes AND functional turf. Corners had to be cut somewhere, and when you’re watching half a dozen players tear their ACL on a beautiful 62" 4k display, set in solid oak, from the comfort of a single source leather recliner, sipping pinot from the vineyard on the roof of Levis stadium,…
is manning or brady diving in after that ball? no fucking way.
That’s not the point, Cam’s hypocrisy is the point though. He constantly talks, including in a pre-game interview, about how his physicality sets him apart from other QB’s and thus can’t be categorized or compared.
That was his opportunity to back up his…
So NOW can we address the elephant in the room? That it is possible for a white man to dislike a black QB and have it NOT be about race?
How long before we see Cam in one of those "it's not how many times you get knocked down"-type commercials? A week?
I live in one of the southern states and I know the difference between its and it's.
