I say go for it—take the name you love. The cultural name won’t be your last name, which is more of an indicator of your cultural background, or your spouse’s cultural background.

Can you possibly ask to be present/included when she has contact with this man? Ie. accompany them to lunch meetings, or whatever. Then she can feel like you’re there to support her and lend her strength, and he can get the message that she’s not ‘his’ anymore, and that you two are presenting a united front.
