Penn did give several interviews in the run up where he said Trump was “bugnut”, “crazy” and should not be president. I don’t know if he highlighted the racism, and certainly in hindsight, he may wish he had.  I like Penn as a performer, but he’s a libertarian, so I don’t really respect his politics.
