Putting an explanation point after your single word denouncement doesn’t make it accurate or relevant. The ticket price isn’t the topic, whether we view the travelers like we view airline passengers vs how we view explorers going on an expedition to uncharted lands.. That’s the topic of conversation. Try to keep up.

what gives them the right to say what can and can’t be launched from any non USA launch site, or what can be sent to Mars?

I’d also maintain that it is the responsibility of the owners to clarify exactly what their car can and can not do...

“what the fuck are you talking about?”

They won’t pay anything because Tesla fanboys love everything Mr. Elon Musk makes. Even if all of their cars spontaneously burn down, they will still applaud Tesla. Every time someone (even a die hard Tesla owner) posts an angry post about the car not meeting quality standard or something else, everyone immediately

Maybe you should be responsible journalists and not repeat Tesla ad-copy since they haven’t earned that level of trust?

I was expecting 21 ladies...

WOOHOO Finally, COTD!

It’s quite......PUN-ishing

Hold on a second. A pun thread that was not started by or feature contributions from $kaycog? I feel like I don’t even know this place anymore.

There is already a lobby for private space exploration. Over the past several years they have been trying to get laws passed to favor mining rights etc in space. Though there is no definitive law on the books, i’m sure there will be something sooner than later.

COTD overload.

Very good comment. One hitch with an ocean launch is that ITAR restricts the export of technologies, so SpaceX could and would be prevented from transferring their equipment out to sea.

Laws can be changed. The author is making no judgments on whether Musk’s plan should be legal. Just pointing out that there’s still very much work to do here sorting the legality out before such an endeavor can take place.

It’s not a question of anyone “owning” anything on Mars, it’s a question of what you, a citizen of wherever you live, can legally do under the laws of your country. US citizens can and have been prosecuted for things that took place entirely outside US borders. There’s no reason that wouldn’t extend to space. The US

YEEEEEEEHAW!

I think it was also said that before they even start the engine they have to pump warm oil throughout the motor so it comes up to temps first. Something to do with tolerances inside of the motor as well

“We’re not talking about ‘inspired by,’ it’s going to be that engine,” he said.

I can’t wait to see how fast these cars are...

AWESOME!!!
