I dont get why this isnt going to be on PS4 and XB1. The dev kits have to have been in the wild for at least 2 years now so I find it surprising that they didnt take the time to make this available on those systems.

The actual cause was that the read/write head inside the drives would get out of alignment easily, so when you formatted it on a computer with a slightly off drive, it would only read the disk on that computer. Or vise versa it wold be formatted on a decent drive and youd try to put it in an off computer. Not to say…
