Unfortunately, something like that would make the car noncompetitive in its market. Enthusiasts might appreciate it, but they’re not going to drive the necessary sales volume.

Ah, seems like you’re misinterpreting what Frolich is saying. He’s not saying he wants journalists to shut up. He’s saying he wants this car to be so much better than anything else on the road that journalists do shut up.

That strategy gets a little dicier if the street is cleaned more once a week. In my neighborhood, street cleaning is on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (on alternate sides), so each side is cleaned twice a week. Then you’re looking at $90 a week. Over 52 weeks, that’s $4,680, or $390/month.

Yeah, I get the ease of ingress/egress. The visibility is also nice, for most people. I mean, the vast majority of drivers aren’t Emerson Fittipaldi, so comfort should be a pretty high priority for them.

What is the problem?

I rented one of these - once you figure out that you have to put it in “S” instead of “D,” it becomes a much better car. A good car, even.

12 made my 7 a lot faster, but it seems to use more battery. 12 also has a battery lifespan estimate in settings
