And oh god. This issue is going to make me want King to tackle Superman, isn’t it?
Batman is at its absolute best in ages because of the work these all are doing. Like, Detective Comics is the Batfamily cartoon I’ve been wanting for ages, while King’s Batman is just staggeringly good. His writing for Bruce and Selina is next level good. The annual was absolutely beautiful.
Tom King is the best thing that’s happened to DC comics in a very long time
Here’s how the actual phone conversation with Superman would go:
Superman: I’m not going to call.
Lois: What?
Superman: I said I’m not going to call!
Lois: I can’t hear you. There’s too much noise.
I truly appreciate the news about Batman #36, but I am especially glad you pointed out the Annual. It’s an astounding book. Week’s pencils are astonishing and bring the characters to life as people, allowing Lark to take over in the later pages as the venue moves later on (no spoilers!).
When I first started getting into comics, one of the things that drew me to DC (circa 2000, so way pre-New 52) was the strong sense of legacy. The heroes that had been published back in the 30's, 40's, and 50's had existed within the world of then-present comics. Heroes like Green Lantern, Flash, Blue Beetle, and…
Tom King is the best thing that’s happened to DC in a very long time. Him, along with Tomasi, Gleason and Tynion, have revitalized the Batman/Superman relationship back from the dreck the New 52 put it in, and I could not be more thankful.
I’m just waiting for some “disruptive app” to let me send my friends to collections and ruin their credit.
Actually banks would love it...it would lead to lots of overdraft fees...
Good. I wish EVERYONE who claims to be feminist or progressive would sever ties. I’ll never forget the Jia Tolentino piece on Jezebel which in my very humble opinion did not go far enough at all, and the scores of commenters who were willing to give Lena pass after motherfucking pass despite example after…
“The vibe was very much like, ‘Do I want to f— it? Is it wearing a … yep, it’s wearing a tuxedo,” Dunham continued. “I’m going to go back to my cell phone.’” It was like we were forced to be together, and he literally was scrolling Instagram rather than have to look at a woman in a bow tie. I was like, ‘This…
Holy cow, are we making an issue out of this? I saw the Beyond Stranger Things episode myself and Sadie was embarrassed, but not traumatized. If you get a job in Hollywood you eventually have to pretend to kiss people you don’t love in real life. It’s how acting works. Quit grasping at straws just because you’re…
A) Ignores men who have been harassed, with Terry Crews being a recently-out example.
Thankfully, the damage is minimized once the carriage gets stuck in the Arc de Triomphe roundabout.
That’s what made it so scary. Here’s this blood red horseless carriage, roaming the streets of Paris and slaying those who get in its way.
I think I’ve read the first 3 of 4 books in the Musketeers books. Those are fantastic. I love the way he plays with the characters in the sequels. They truly feel worthwhile, and since he puts all of this historical fiction on the outskirts of it, it also always has this feeling of perhaps having taken place. He…
I had no idea that Dumas wrote Christine. I didn’t even think they had cars yet.
The problem is there are apparently people who miss the point and think Rick should be considered a role model be emulated. You would think his constant lack of happiness would be a guide.
“Rick sucks. Beth sucks. Everything sucks—at least if you’re smart.”
