First off, tipping culture is bullshit. Get rid of tipping like most civilized countries and pay people a living wage to begin with.

Last time I went to pick up an order to go they asked me if I want to tip for packing my food into to-go - GTFO!

Or just no more tips, build the cost in and pay the delivery people a real wage.

I always tip cash on delivery, and NEVER before. If the service isn’t prompt, I’m sure as hell not paying extra for someone’s bare minimum effort. I was a waiter for years, and you don’t get tips for poor service.

I’m the customer and I’m always right.

Or have the company hiring these drivers to pay them properly, then you do not have to tip.... I know North America is used to tip but many countries around the world do not. They just pay their employees an adequate salary.

Then they would be an employee - and the company could never accept that.

If a tip is entered beforehand, that’s not a tip. That’s a delivery fee.

I regret to inform you that basically everything reported on this site is a first world problem.

If drivers aren't willing to collect orders because a 'tip' hasn't paid before hand, it isn't a tip, it's a service charge. It's the real cost of that driver paying thier bills and if people aren't happy they can collect their own food. It's how Capitalism works. Sucks doesn't it.

Can we get real with the headline?
“This is what happens when delivery services don’t pay their employees a living wage”

Tipping culture is toxic. Quasi-obligatory tipping needs to stop; instead, service workers need to be paid a living wage. Period. If you want to give a few coins as a voluntary gratidude, that’s fine with me (and I do that myself), although some societies shun those as well, which I can also understand.

First world problem.  How about we all go back to picking up our own shit and not pawn it off to someone else?

Here’s a tip, don’t use these services, get off your ass and get it yourself if you’re concerned about how much you should tip and when.

after all, if you’re willing to pay inflated DoorDash processing fees, why can’t you tip?”

It’s a subsidy because the base pay isn’t enough to make the delivery worth it. Part of why I refuse to use these services. The other being that I actually want my food to be warm when it arrives (or cold, depending on what it is).

If you want to pay to be lazy it is important that you actually pay.

I just drive to pick up my own food, its easy plus I can check and fix how wrong it’ll be at the establishment,

I don’t miss living in the rust belt.  you reminded me why i don’t enjoy living there.....rusty everything.
