I also flew to Munich and back, then had to wait for the car to come by boat last time I bought a car, so what do I know?
My wife and I drove 750 miles round trip for her car. It was exactly what she wanted, for a great price, at a much friendlier dealer than we had local. I don’t think traveling a long distance is crazy, we had a great road trip together and she got exactly what she wanted, everybody wins.
Either your “hot take” ain’t so hot, or you’re calling me ridiculous. In 2019 I hired Tom to find me exactly the car I was looking for. He did and it was a great deal. And it was nearly 500 miles away from me.
They are really into destroying native sacred stuff https://www.reuters.com/article/us-australia-mining-indigenous/rio-tintos-sacred-indigenous-caves-blast-scandal-idUSKCN2AV0OU
Rio Tinto has also been trying to do a highly questionable land swap for sacred native land near Superior, AZ. It’s thought to be the largest copper deposit in the world.
This is high, but in the current market a pretty good price. I have an ‘06 and it’s reasonably sturdy... pretty fast and I think a beautiful design especially if you add wider wheels to fill the arches... That sunroof is going to leak like crazy as the drain was designed by water demons. The center stack makes it…
This is one of those rare instances I think alphanumerics work better than a name. “XC90" seems to have some actual brand recognition, to the point where you can say “I drive an XC90" and I think many might recognize it as a Volvo. Saying “I drive an Embla” means nothing, and will require you to specify that it is a…
Whatever law that allows DRL’s to be installed without automatic headlights. Probably the same one that allows cars to turn on their wipers without turning on the headlights with them, and allows red turn signals.
It is way too easy to get your driver’s license in this country. We need laws that requires more skills behind the wheel and actually keep checking our driving skills well into old age. Just one day of driving around Florida will demonstrate the need for better driver training for new and older drivers.
It’s this - the FMVSS.
Good. Nobody should want Rio Tinto burrowing in their backyard. The locals are right to continue protesting. The big fat lithium deposit is too much of a temptation for any ambitious politician. Rio Tinto itself may in all likelihood just go over the border and start digging in Republika Srpska instead.
Djokovik kinda brought this French Open thing on himself. It is so easy in the States to get vaccinated and pretty much required in Europe.
Thank you so much for this, and so sorry to hear about your friend. Hopefully the van will indeed go to a good home. :)
What crazy timing on this article. This van was owned by a friend of mine, who tragically passed away a few years ago. Just this morning I was wondering whatever happened to AlphaVan and here we are. He would take this van down to Baja every winter to adventure then back up to Colorado and Vancouver BC in the summers.…
These “knockdown” oddities are tied into the very strict import controls and currency restrictions that lasted in New Zealand from the 1940s to the 1970s. There’s a ton of fascinating exhibits on this at Te Papa in Wellington (when you can start visiting NZ again) and some high level descriptions online at https://tea…
Fucking adorable. I want to pat it on the head and give it a treat. What a happy little truck.
Mozeltov! Its a Fitler!
I would ask about the head-rests.
