What if I told you someone made something similar to this robot in real life?

The STI museum in Japan (really just the upper floor of the Mitaka Subaru dealership) has two more of McRae’s cars: A Legacy, and another Impreza.

They also have one of Solberg’s cars, and a 22B. I stopped by there when I was in Tokyo, and had the place to myself. It was a really special place.

Tobacco sponsorship in motorsports was being progressively outlawed in certain countries during the 90's. So depending on where they were racing, the teams that were sponsored by tobacco companies (like State Express 555 or Marlboro) would use a generic version of the logos to get around the laws and then switch back

I get the all the arguments being made here, and I can see how being used to american-style markers could have an impact while driving in Europe, but honest to god, as a european driver I have never been in a situation in which I felt american style side markers would make much difference. I mean, I love them because

How do you know what direction a car is driving? You see when the (US) side marker lights are on, there’s also this massive ball of white light at the front of the car(with EU LED lights it’s about 3 times as big as conventional lights). And in the rear there’s a red glow, if this glow also turns very white, it’s in

Alright, I’m going to take a guess at the final hammer: This is without a doubt, one of the most iconic rally cars of all time.

This. Dear fucking god the brightness of some headlights is deadly dangerous bullshit.

Good point, things worked out just fine for Edsel!

To be fair, the swiveling headlights came with the 1967 facelift. In the 50s it looked like this. Still though, the DS is a car that should be on every ‘ahead of its time’ lists.

That’s a pioneer as well. The Cord L-29 was FWD and came out in 1929, but that was relatively traditional. The Cord 810 was released in 1936 (2 years after the Citroen) and was much more modern than the L-29, but unlike the Citroen it was an unreliable sales flop. It also had ‘only’ front independent suspension, and

Mitsubishi Galant VR-4.  I was fortunate/unfortunate enough to have one of these in the early ‘00s.  Everything about it seemed ahead of its time.  It was an AWD sedan with 4-wheel steering, and interior features were more like something out of the present day than the early ‘90s.

Please use the metric system. We’re gonna switch when Gen Z takes over.

Avantime... i wonder what it could mean...

If the answer isn’t Miata, then it’s Baja.

Given that the Aztek was based on a minivan platform, you could probably throw the Previa on to the list of precursors. The vehicle itself was very much of its time and would have printed money if it wasn’t so damn ugly. Some of the styling cues were pretty firmly stuck in the late 90s, so if anything you could say it

The Jensen FF. You know how the Audi Quattro was something of a revolution as an awd sports car? This was 14 years earlier. Hell it was the first AWD passenger car. Ever. The kind of thing pretty much everyone offers. If only Jensen would have survived to run Group B...
