Pretty sure thats a Holden Calibra
Australia is getting both the USA and JDM fronts. Having a incredibly reliable Corolla Alltrac 4wd wagon from 1988 I’m actually interested in looking at the Hybrid version of this for a run around/commuter
Giant fireball and shock are two reasons.
Plenty of others came in to help.
Perhaps the other drivers were elderly or disabled? Try not to judge.
I’ve ran out of my car when it was safe to help a 100kmh roll over here in Australia on a four lane freeway. the people who only just avoided the accident were gripped with…
If you goto one of the early episodes he talks about the sentimental reasons for restoring this car as it owned by his family for a long time and was about to be scrapped. That is a fair enough reason.
Have you watched WestCorkRestorations on youtube? his work is mostly VW Transporters though but like Soup they are a large part rust.
South Australia. Because South Australian drivers, Not enough passing lanes, mind numbing distances and dust storms.
I did like how they chose an rare euro car but then didn’t make a bit thing about it.
I wanted to enjoy that show but couldn’t get into it. However ABC Australia have done really well for other shows such as Barons and Mystery Road.
Add 5 speed manual VW Vanagons to that esteemed list (not released in the US though)
You’ve obviously never seen logjammin’
Any performance you could get from the extra turbo has been nullified by the weight of barn timber let alone your centre of gravity. Terrible idea and should have kept the original interior. Also looks a disaster to try and clean
ND I have a Vanagon Westfalia as a second car (later model 2.1 litre watercooled with the 5 speed manual and keeps up with traffic fine) and can agree they aren’t for everyone.
If the body didn’t have that hit in the rear quarter that would be a nice price but a subaru swap for the engine and some rust removal and new…
I used to see John Clarke at my local bookshop. I’m so glad this is still a meme
Yeah, they usually stop dead in the middle of the ford though if it gets to the windscreen. or if its a BMW as soon as it hits the bumper.
I didn’t actually say it was going off road. I just said this is as far off road as I’ve seen anyone drive a prius. Can you not tell the difference?
Fording rivers halfway up the windscreen is impressive in any vehicle. This road kills heaps of cars each year.
I didn’t know that the difference between Mk1 and Mk2 was that much so thanks for filling me in. My partner nixed my idea of her buying a Lexus CT200h (prius mech) recently to buy a Golf which has been a mechanical nightmare.

I can’t beat actual experience as I’ve only used a Gen 2 which fixed those issues you discussed. I guess the best you can say it the Gen 1 was a test bed for the Gen 2.
How was it garbage? It looked terrible and was slow but proved stout enough.
