So after 10 years of slowly teased and increasingly more average concept images from VW we get a small wheelbase VW Transporter in retro Cosplay...
But don’t car enthusiasts do that anyway?
2010 I went back to grad school and needed a reliable runabout. Bought a Corolla All-trac 500miles away because of its exact spec and price (SR5, Red, AC, Electric windows/ mirrors/sunroof. Manual with Difflock. Got it checked by a local garage. Bought it on the spot. Got the…

Worth if for those seats. Probably the most comfortable of any small car
Similar situation in Australia over the same time period.
“So, next time you whip out your 1999 iBook before hopping into the seat of your 1985 Dasher fastback to impress everyone over at the slam poetry jam or whatever revival late ‘90s/early 2000s bullshit you’re into,” or Windows vs. Apple trolling.

I think those cars are only a 4 speed auto and small fuel tank (13 gallons?) as well which might have contributed to your issues. being at 2500 rpm was probably not the issue. My older cars had a sweet spot at 3000rpm which gave good economy but also some responsiveness (for AWD 4 cylinder wagons)
Is 2k really that much on the freeway? my Corolla Alltrac is doing 3k at 65mph and it will do it all day. Older cars are a bit noisier though.
That model Celica did rounded 80's better than any other car.
I want to debadge a VF SS and put toyota lexcen badges on it for ultimate troll lord status.
Didn’t the first versions have the manual diff lock for the center diff that was the same part as the Corolla 4wd Alltrac from 1988-1995 I have Rav 4 shocks on my alltrac. classic Toyota part bin lego.
But some of them in the outer suburbs have Chevy badging so I is confused!
