Worth if for those seats. Probably the most comfortable of any small car
Similar situation in Australia over the same time period.
“So, next time you whip out your 1999 iBook before hopping into the seat of your 1985 Dasher fastback to impress everyone over at the slam poetry jam or whatever revival late ‘90s/early 2000s bullshit you’re into,” or Windows vs. Apple trolling.
Yeah Japan got them and also the Cross Up! a pun for those who used to BMX. There is over 500 for sale in Japan right now. https://www.goo-net-exchange.com/php/search/summary.php
I like it. probably the best design that stays honest to the original VW principals. We got them in Australia in ICE only with manuals
The non electric version was sold in Australia for a few years but never took on. Unfortunatly as I think it was the most honest car VW currently has. A good honest basic car. Saw a lot in Tokyo. Japan even got the GTi version!

Time for a GRMN retro Tercel 4wd Wagon to compare!
We are just starting to get full size right hand drive RAM utes on the street in Australia and apart from a few companies (local power companies for heavy maintance items) I have seen none used for their intended purpose and truly do not fit in to the road / parking system here. A cashed up bogan recreation car if…
Totally agree. I Landcruiser and Westfalia Vanagon around Australia a bit but then I don’t eat any meat I don’t catch and use Trams and bicycle around the City I live.
Colleagues have brand new Golfs or whatever every couple of years and fly around overseas (not so much right now) and tell me that my old cars are the…
This RV Ute mechanicals in a Falcon body is all the Hybrid we need.
I think those cars are only a 4 speed auto and small fuel tank (13 gallons?) as well which might have contributed to your issues. being at 2500 rpm was probably not the issue. My older cars had a sweet spot at 3000rpm which gave good economy but also some responsiveness (for AWD 4 cylinder wagons)
Is 2k really that much on the freeway? my Corolla Alltrac is doing 3k at 65mph and it will do it all day. Older cars are a bit noisier though.
That model Celica did rounded 80's better than any other car.
I want to debadge a VF SS and put toyota lexcen badges on it for ultimate troll lord status.
Didn’t the first versions have the manual diff lock for the center diff that was the same part as the Corolla 4wd Alltrac from 1988-1995 I have Rav 4 shocks on my alltrac. classic Toyota part bin lego.
But some of them in the outer suburbs have Chevy badging so I is confused!
if that is the case then why does the USA only have side marker lights? shouldn’t tail and headlights be enough to show where a car is?
I’ve driven the AWD CH-R in Australia and worked on a review of it but not out of the city. The publication also did a comparisson against my Alltrac. https://www.drive.com.au/reviews/2018-toyota-c-hr-v-1988-toyota-corolla-sr5-4wd-wagon-comparison/
Have had 2 X Tercel 4wds and an Alltrac. Can confirm that I am the target market. However this doesn’t quite have the level of quirk. No weirdly sized rear windows. ATM on the back or centre diff lock. The Hybrid would go a long way to resolve this.
