This feels like a joke that became truth because of the internet. Jalopniks have/would never buy a brown, manual, diesel wagon in real life. I would guess the majority have never driven a diesel before but will beat you to death if you speak ill about the holy oil burners.

Acura gave buyers the ILX the 2.4 I4 with 6mt when the car launch and it seems no one bought it? Why offer a product buyers will not buy?
