I had this argument and it represents the NFL. Charity for publicity. I know people who “donate” 10K to homeless people for yardwork. They don’t invite the people inside their homes or clean up the collateral damage. This NFL donation is just that: it actively hurts and prolongs pain.

Hook me up with a billion dollars in public financing, special laws, rebuild every road around me, etc. And I guarantee you I and every commenter in this thread can hit that number.

I’ve come to think a significant number of owners love leading a minstrel show. There is a fine line: the embrace of a coked up wide receiver in a pink fur coat with a well dressed owner, OK. Or a college QB on the sidelines. And I have heard/read a lot of racist things said about suit choices on draft day.

I think unless you were lied to the first time you took a drug, or way too young, it was your choice sort of. And you have the choice to seek help when lucid. Also I’m not sure you can compare it to interactions between people about mating. I think completely different brain function.
