If only there was model the US could work off of that would allow affordable health care for all that would not be subject to the whims of the marketplace and private corporations bottom lines. But alas, who can conceive of such a thing.....

Not at all. The difference is that it is difficult to show intent on sending an e-mail. Without something clearly saying “I intend to violate the rules,” intent is hard to prove in that case. (Whether or not intent was needed is a different issue not really germane to this thread).
I agree with everything you said.
When Kobe Bryant, hardly a paragon of virtue, settled with his victim, he issued a public apology that saw him saying that, while he truly believed the encounter was consensual, after listening to her testimony he understood how she felt that it was not. While that is not entirely satisfying and I’m not sure how both…
Exactly. I’m also that age, and it was widely accepted that if you got drunk and went to a guy’s room, that *was* consent. (Though even then, I think a lot of us would have said bringing his friends in crossed the line to rape.)
I get what you’re saying and everything but in most of those cases you’re talking about people who led political movements. We can’t throw out what MLK did and I’m guessing the British aren’t coming back to India or the US any time soon to take things over.
Honestly, I don’t know. I struggle hard with things like this and I don’t have an answer. Gandhi was a shithole wife abuser. MLK Jr. cheated on his wife multiple times. Jefferson raped slaves and talked about how great the institution was for making money. So-called “great men” cannot keep their fucking dicks in their…
It’s hard to know how to feel about this one. I was in college at the same time as Parker and though this is in no way an excuse, how people thought about consent was not as evolved at that time. Anecdotally, about half of my female friends (myself included) had sexual experiences where we were too intoxicated to give…
We measure the weight and severity of alleged rape against the damage it would do the accused’s life and achievements to acknowledge, but we never even consider what life and what achievements it robbed of the victim. Never.
I ... it troubles me ... okay a lot of things about this trouble me, but what really sticks in my mind right this second is that she was so distraught, she attempted suicide, but all he can talk about right now is how this is affecting his life.
No, it’ll just be a larger field in the final.
Funny thing is it doesn't make me feel safe. Standing in a slow moving line with 1-3,000 people makes me feel like more of a target than boarding a plane with no security.
It’s not just pay (it’s mostly not pay) it’s lack of training, and high turnover. If you want effective security, you need teams that drill a great deal.
I'm shocked that Jimmy with the High School diploma making 14 an hour isn't all that interested in helping someone.
It’s obvious security theater people.
The controversy around Miller’s dive proves NBC’s feckless and incompetent stewardship as the primary broadcaster of American track & field.
Clearly you have never fallen on a rubberized track at speed.
You basically have to believe that Bill told Hillary that he raped a woman, to believe that Hillary intimidated Broaddrick. And then you also have make additional leaps as to why Bill’s actions are Hillary’s fault. And then it gets more confusing since Broaddrick seems more focused on Hillary than Bill.
All I know is I will NOT be voting for Bill Clinton this November.
I have no idea if Broaddrick’s allegations are true or not, but her story is credible enough, and should be treated with sensitivity and seriousness.
