You can say what you said. It’s when you start using words like shrill, nagging, etc. that you’re entering dangerous waters because we rarely lob similar criticisms against men. For example, Trumps speaking voice aint that great, but other than mocking his pronunciation of huge, we don’t see that in the media much.

It’s really amazing. It’s especially frustrating to consider the fact that This American Life gets constant criticism for the vocal fry that their female contributors exhibit, but IRA GLASS—who has like a textbook example of vocal fry—never gets criticized for it.

Heh, pretty lousy for a developer to complain that we’re cheating when they can’t even outline how the various systems in their own fucking game work to the player.

Egg hatching, distance traveled, the damn three footprints glitch effectively making finding any creatures a guessing game...

Yeah, think I’ll keep

“It takes the fun out of it”

When developers say things like this, I kind of think they’re idiots. YOUR definition of “fun” is not a universal definition of “fun”.

I’ll tell them what. I’ll stop using the API scanners as soon as they fix the fucking 3-step bug. How about that?

“Robotic” and “insincere” are both perfectly fine criticisms. So, in fact, are Sullivan’s “pedestrian” and “uninspiring”. People are free to disagree with you, but those are terms that are routinely applied to male speakers as well as female.

I have robots who walk my eggs for me :|

What a coincidence! It just so happens that there’s virtually always something objectionable about the voices of women who speak up in public. I’m sure it has nothing to do with internalized sexism. Just like how women are criticized for every vocal trait imaginable—saying “like” too much, upspeak, vocal fry—while men

You can address it, but address it in a way that isn’t sexist. The criticisms launched by Hume and Sullivan both fell into the trap of criticizing her for things that, if they were coming from someone with the bass provided by having an adam’s apple and more testosterone, would have been considered perfectly fine.

You know the first time I have ever seen her act like the person that people have met her describe her as, rather than the persona that she's been forced to create is when all those balloons came down from the celling? Her simple unguarded joy made me burst into tears.

True story - Trump’s voice woke my baby from a dead sleep and made him cry. He has yet to have a similar reaction to ANY voice.

I definitely think Sullivan fell into the trap of double standards when it comes to men and women speaking.

Get used to it. They’re going to complain about her voice, her tone, her not smiling enough, her face, her hair, her clothes for the next 8 years. But not because they’re sexist or anything.

That’s what I laugh about. Have these fuckers ever heard Donald Trump speak? Or listened to recordings of some of our previous presidents? JFK sounded like he swallowed the city of Boston and a silver spoon. And Lincoln allegedly had an awful speaking voice.

Yes, because Trump’s voice is sweet, gentle and music to the ears. He never raises his voice. And he smiles constantly! So it’s completely fair to expect the same of Hillary.

I read a NY post article that that broke down the cadence of her speech pattern and died a bit inside, the "best" part was that the author was like "I'm not sexist, I'm just honest! I said yesterday Obamas speech was good and if hers was I would have too!" It was literally the "I'm not biased I have (minority)

Even I can’t be cynical about Orlando Bloom taking pictures of Katy Perry’s speech and performance. That’s supportive and adorable.

Ouch!

I’m not going to say I cried but I also didn’t not cry.
