There are women in the United States who believe that they are anti-choice when perhaps they could be swayed to support pro-choice politicians. (And probably men too, though it’s less likely.)

I’m not arguing. I’m just saying, isn’t what’s explicitly stated in this email a practice we’ve all been implicitly participating in whenever we use terms that we all know function more or less as euphemisms in support of abortion rights? And if it is, then what is it that we think is the big deal here?
Aside from the fact that we have this email explicitly noting polling and prescribing a strategy based on that polling, what is it that’s new here? Ultimately, don’t we take for granted that terms like “Pro-choice” and “reproductive rights” and “women’s rights are human rights” and every other term and slogan that’s…
Off-hand, I suspect the polling indicated what people probably already understand intuitively (e.g., that “reproductive rights” polls better than “abortion.”), and the organization is trying to frame an effective messaging campaign that hones as closely to “what works” based on polling as possible.
Even when they have good relations, how many people at this point are so in the clear they can drop 50k a year on a kid’s tuition? even 20k?
I grew up an evangelical, “speaking in tongues”, born-again Christian. I was anti-abortion, anti pre-marital sex, and had no idea what LGBTQ+ was (it didn’t even have the letters back then).
Yes, it would have been nice if he had realized this before he wrote his book, however the book was a reflection of part of that culture and someone would have written something similar.
I am fascinated by this. In many ways, his journey kinda resembles mine. I read his book when I was about his age - and boy did i buy that hook line and sinker. But I guess it’s easier to have someone else tell you what to do instead, of having faith in yourself to figure it out on your own. There aren’t many…

go grab ~1600 men, mostly aged 20-30 years old, mostly from at best middle class upbringings (and at worst basically coming from literally dirt poor) and see how well they understand money management as a group.
I am not an Anna Wintour fan, but this is epic level shade. She doesn’t even mention Melania, all she talks about is Michelle Obama and her style. To me, that’s worse than if Anna called Melania a tasteless harpy.
She’s using her natural gifts for the greater good here :) I listened to the audio and died when the interviewer asked if she would help T with his sartorial issues and she said, “I think he is unlikely to call”. She avoided even referencing the names of the current first family. It’s truly masterful.
I have long detested Anna Wintour for a variety of reasons but she has deployed her snobbishness and pettiness in answering this question that has almost made me like her! BTW Michelle Obama is all the things Wintour says she is.....! There is no dispute here.
I have one of those cheesy inspirational posters in my office, but mine says “Everything Happens for No Reason”. i get many looks of disapproval. fuck em. :)
Your film shoot horror story is that you were a jerk to a group of PAs who were just doing their jobs?
when my roommate moved in he kept overfeeding my dog. she gained 9lbs. i started calling her fat sausage. and my vet yelled at me told me I was hurting my dog. apparently for every 5lbs your dog is overweight, it is a year off their life. i put her on a diet, she lost the 9lbs, she still begs for food. she is still…
I think the Spelling Bee is stupid as hell (especially now that I know that it’s basically a racket), but I will say that I immediately judge and caste down people who write things like “defanate” or mistake “effect” and “affect”, etc. This automatically makes you a peon and NOT WORTHY OF MY CONTINUED CORRESPONDENCE.
Yeah, no woman wants to have that conversation. I’m 33 and get around it by saying ‘I’m so glad I never had kids’ loudly and repeatedly. I like children, but like, not in my house. My friend, who is the exact same age, just had IVF to get pregnant. She dropped almost as much as my house deposit because she wants a…
When someone asks me about my kids, I tell them I have two and their names are Disposable Income and Unlimited Free Time.
She’s the best-selling musician of her generation and one of the best songwriters of all time. She was TIME’s person of the year, she’s testified against the man who sexually assaulted her, and she’s become a political activist. But Taylor Swift will have accomplished nothing, nothing, in her 30 years on this planet un…
