My experience was similar last week, half empty theater on a weeknight except some jerks brought their 2 year old who loudly disrupted every quiet moment of the film so that I wished I had waited to stream it.

Yeah exactly! Hard core Catholics were so mad about Vatican II in the 1960s (the first modernizing reform in centuries) that it directly led to a huge rise in exorcisms (aka torture of the mentally ill) as well as the satanic panic which ruined countless lives. 

Another example: Dr Oz who was a very respected heart surgeon, now a total woo slinging quack. Smart people are just as susceptible to logical fallacies as the rest of us.

The movie thing was baffling to me. I thought it was established that he wants to watch Christmas movies with his KIDS. Foreign aid is one thing but military aid feels like a different thing altogether.

Depends on the size of the hospital. Where I worked our night shift was 4 nurses and a tech. If we’d all quit that would be half the staff - a massive blow.

My take, as a nurse? It’s because you don’t need to understand the ‘why’ of something to be a highly skilled and competent nurse who gives great care and is good at their job.

The hospital I worked at (in upstate NY) did not require annual flu shots. They encouraged them and offered them for free but you didn’t have to get it. If you did not get a flu vaccine you were required to wear a mask during flu season. Many nurses I worked with opted for this and then basically took the mask off…
