Foreign aid is one thing but military aid feels like a different thing altogether.

So these back door subsidies you speak of are just another way public money is funneled into private hands while public services that should be financed by public monies keep getting cut? Is this supposed to be good for society?
I mean, why can’t Israel fund their own missile defense? I am not against international spending to help with humanitarian crises, especially when in many cases we either directly or indirectly caused those crises but Israel is a relatively rich country why are we propping up their military spending? So they can…
Depends on the size of the hospital. Where I worked our night shift was 4 nurses and a tech. If we’d all quit that would be half the staff - a massive blow.
My take, as a nurse? It’s because you don’t need to understand the ‘why’ of something to be a highly skilled and competent nurse who gives great care and is good at their job.
The hospital I worked at (in upstate NY) did not require annual flu shots. They encouraged them and offered them for free but you didn’t have to get it. If you did not get a flu vaccine you were required to wear a mask during flu season. Many nurses I worked with opted for this and then basically took the mask off…
As someone who worked as a nurse in a small regional hospital in upstate NY you would not believe how nuts parts of the state are and medical personnel are not exempted from the crazy. I had an RN supervisor who vehemently ranted about how much she hated teachers because they were all “liberal scum bags” (it came up…
As someone who grew up in those shitty crammed together suburbs but still had to drive everywhere, I am completely 100% in agreement with you but on the reverse side. I just want to walk everywhere I need to be and forget about the hassle of driving and parking and all that. I frequently feel like my fellow citizens …
Seriously this. Signed, an ortho nurse.
Your first point brings to my mind the lifestyles of wealthy artsy people of the 1920s who lived in hotels and were always broke (someone like Dorothy Parker for example). I have always found such a way of living incomprehensible because of the lack of security but your comment makes me think that this was likely…
Even like hiking or throwing a frisbee?
I guess that’s the “outdoorsman” part. Just makes me think of that awkward photo of him sitting on a tree stump like he’s never been outside or sat on something before.
Tongue-stalgia! Also I have such a huge crush on Sebastian Stan and can’t wait to see that movie.
RE going to the hospital when sick. I think it’s more common outside the US.
It’ll be used to send a kid (probably both kids) to college.
Gives me the same heebie jeebies as Angelina and Billy Bob making out in front of Angie’s dad. Good times.
Wait. Hold up. Why are you dragging Goku into this?
Yeah I am SO confused by this whole thing. She seeks out a diet-y dessert because of her eating disorder and then is upset at the shop for providing the thing she was specifically seeking claiming that it’s triggering the thing that caused her to seek this particular food item in the first place. What kind of logic is…
I think most of the time it is basically “we’re going to leak this either way but if you sign here you can at least earn some money from it” type of situation.
I was told this when I got my J&J shot last week and I am a woman under 50. I really think it comes down to how well trained the person doing your shot is. I had an NP, she was very thorough.
