My comment was in reference to the “Gentle” — the non-foaming one. I think only the poll lists it wrong?

That’s a good analogy. In it’s adjectival form it seems to be descriptive while acknowledging personhood, while as a noun it eliminates personhood in a way.
I don’t know for certain, but in my travels through Australia I was told by that that term “Aboriginal person” or “indigenous Australian,” is preferred by many to “Aborigines,” which some find offensive. Some do not like any form of Aborigine/Aboriginal, and prefer to be called by the word meaning simply “person” in…
I lived in Australia briefly and was absolutely horrified to read these words. This language is nearly identical to the rationales used by early colonists to justify the genocide and forced assimilation of Aboriginal populations. Removed from the book or not, I will never look at her the same again.
Cosigned. In my mid-40s, been using the stuff since I was 18, and get compliments on my skin all the time.

I'm going tomorrow night with my son and sister, so it's actually $180,000,048!
a 4-4 split would have done nothing but deny the stay. Nothing else happens. 5 votes are needed to grant a stay of any lower court decision, and Breyer provided the fifth necessary vote staying the decision of the Fourth Circuit decision holding that the school was required to allow Mr. Grim to use the boys’ restroom.…
Yeah, and *IN THEORY* the idea of allowing a defendant to serve a relatively short sentence on weekends so he can remain employed is a good one, IMO, when applied on a case-by-case basis and when appropriate. Employment is generally a major factor in reducing recidivism (though caveat that I am not certain this is…
I agree, though I think the NY Times really nailed it.
So this says that Melania read the passages to the staffer. Logically, we then have to accept that when Melania read the finished product, she either didn’t recognize or didn’t care that those exact passages were repeated verbatim in the speech? Even this “confession” reads like a lie.
As a former TM lawyer.... The logos don't have to be identical to infringe, they just have to create a "likelihood of confusion." Given that the font is close to identical, the color scheme is identical, the heart is almost identical, and layout is similar, and that the products occupy the exact same market and are…
That’s actually perfect! He’s seen all the Hobbit movies, so it's ON!
How old are your boys? Wondering if it would be appropriate (not too scary?) to watch with my 9-year-old boy — he hasn't seen the original yet, for no particular reason.
That is super cool. :)
What is your connection with Burr? He had no surviving heirs, so I assume it was a first cousin? That's incredibly fascinating!
Lac just tweeted that he did it to make Lin laugh. Their bromance is my fave.
From the comments on Twitter, etc, I thought the WW theme was a surprise orchestrated (hehe) by Alex Lacamoire?
Was it "The American Heiress" by Daisy Goodwin? Good trashy read.
A goddamned monster who had never cooked for himself before and who claimed, on interrogation, that he had "no idea you were supposed to do that" ("that" being CLEAN the cutting board)
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *gags*
