I know right? Especially now that we can buy liquor on Sundays, it seems like the Blue Laws may actually be more a force for good than for evil.

Here in Massachusetts, stores are barred by law from opening on Thanksgiving day. (Stores can get individual permits under certain circumstances, but the usual-suspect big-box retailers aren't eligible). That doesn't keep retailers from opening at 12:01 AM on "Friday" though.

Also, Vermont Country Store. And they have adult-sized Lanz of Salzburg flannel nightgowns too.

Love the buried "Annie" reference.

I think there are a lot of reasons, which will vary hugely from person to person/ couple to couple. Some women really want the experience of being pregnant and giving birth. Some couples want a child that is genetically related to one of them, and they can get this from egg donation by using the husband's sperm. Some

It's way, way harder physically than donating sperm.

From a fellow quilter, that is true love. You are a good child.

We got this for my dad one year and it was a huge hit!

For more crafty-type (as opposed to arty-type) items, saveoncrafts.com is also awesome and cheap. The shipping can be pricey but the prices are so low it makes up for it.

It's a term that is used in some state systems. It's not that uncommon.

When I was a young lawyer I had one case (pro bono) in family court involving a custody dispute. I found the entire process so completely FUBAR I swore never to get involved in a custody matter again. It was depressing on so many levels, for me, who wanted to believe that the system was, at a minimum, at least

EXACTLY. I've just been refraining from commenting (or "liking") at all, but it's driving me a little mad. Thankfully my kids' school doesn't pull this kind of shit, so at least I don't have to figure out how to handle that battle.

Sigh. My FB feed is full of this today, and everyone commenting how "ADORABLE" it is. Frownyface.

Oh, yes. Don't get me wrong. I don't think this is brave or groundbreaking, "positive" or "refreshing. But to be fair, the company isn't really pitching it that way, HuffPo is. The company pitch is that it's a "DIY" campaign — styling and photos by the models. They just say "no stylist, no hair & makeup, no lighting."

The idea was that the models get to pick. If they wanted makeup, they could have makeup. Ditto for PS, filters, etc.

You on Rav? This is promising.... it's kid sized, but all you really need is the chart....

I'd like Malia's coat, please. I know that style is a dime a dozen but that one has cute pleated elbow details.

"Tick Tock Lady" looks uncannily like Amanda Plummer, too.

Have you tried the Newman's Own iced-tea lemonade? IMO it is superior to Turkey Hill. With you on the half-empty hummus containers though.

Her blog is unreadable. I assume she doesn't write it herself, but if she does, she lacks basic grammar and construction skills, and if she doesn't, someone needs to get fired immediately.
