It wasn’t Cruz, the article said it was an anti-Trump group. Never take anything Trump says at face value, do you think he even has a clue about how PACs work?

Had I any photoshopping skills, I would circle the, ahem, erect man inside the camel for those too young to remember.
When someone in the public eye does one of these things where they really try super super hard to burn some other more famous person, it just makes me feel uncomfortable and embarrassed for them.
Right? there were times when my mom worked 3 jobs to provide for me and my sister. She got very small child support payments from my Dad (less than $300/ month) and my Dad was a successful lawyer at the time. My Dad wasnt a deadbeat by any means but my Mom still had to work her ass off to make it work so I find it…
I know plenty of custodial parents who devote 70% of their income to their children. And they have to cook meals and do laundry and nurse them when they’re sick.
FUCK YO WRITING CAREER
I have a kid. And I have a job that is so far from my dream career it isn’t even funny, but it has good health insurance, pays the bills, and flexible time for childcare emergencies. You better believe I’m grateful as fuck to be able to show up every day.
Absolutely agreed. I was raised by a single mom who busted her ass in a career she never wanted because it paid enough for her to raise me more than comfortably, while my fuckwad of a biological father had to be sued for child support. I want to feel for this guy, but at the same time... naw.
And? If you’re serious about caring for your children, be the UPS driver whose wages are garnished 70%. That’s still more money than “I get paid a couple hundred dollars once or twice a year to write a rambling and unsympathetic think piece for websites like Jezebel”.
I used to process garnishments at my last job, granted not for CA but for several states and there is a limit on what they can take and it was well under 70%.
Never mind the freedom the non-custodial parent has to pursue dreams like that while the custodial parent often has to work 2 jobs that they hate to keep the water on. You do what you have to do. You give up dreams and work 3 jobs to care for your kids if need be, custodial parent or not. My husband’s father abandoned…
I was thinking the same thing. He sounds like a nice guy, but after you have children you have to adult up and do what you have to do to support them. And if your writing career makes $10k/year, then you need to find a new career. I realize finding jobs is hard, but if he can make $10k writing, I’m sure he can figure…
I don’t buy this, because it happens all of the time (both out of necessity and choice). My mother switched careers at 45 because her employer laid her off. She had no money, and utility companies were calling her demanding money or they were going to cut her off. But she made the choice, and scraped together what…
Exactly. Custodial parents don't have the luxury of giving ious to their kids. Am I supposed to feel bad for this guy?
Also what in heck is wrong with working for UPS? he didn’t want to work that job because it paid too little to HIM even though it was apparently providing his kids with money.
I sympathize with him only to the extent that I know CSS is screwed. That said, I agree that he has the freedom to choose to continue to attempt to wring out a writing career where the mothers of his children have no choice but to try and piece a living together without any help from him. THAT is something to feel…
That was my takeaway. Boo-hoo. What about the women you stuck with your kids that now have to take on added financial burdens because you won’t find a job?
which tells me he was ALREADY in massive arrears so what does that say about him?
I agree with that but my point was that when you have kids to support sometimes you don’t get to hold out for a “career”, you just have to have a “job”, or two or three.
I’m probably being a huge asshole but I have trouble understanding how the non-custodial parents not paying child support are the victims here.
