You’re confusing two issues—the act of discrimination with the proof of discrimination. You specifically say “unless you can prove discrimination” a business can refuse. That’s not actually true. Businesses have to follow the law, just like everyone else. They are prohibited from discriminating whether it is provable

But, any business has the right to not serve someone. The problem comes when you say why you are refusing to serve them or if someone notices that those people you refuse to serve are all, gay, women, men, jewish, muslim, christian or whatever.”

Very interesting, thanks. A couple years ago, I picked up Of Plymouth Plantation by William Bradford. I was reading the version edited by Samuel Eliot Morison. It’s an absolutely fascinating work. We learn the basic outlines in school, but to hear the details first hand is different. I can’t claim to have any specific

I’m curious, what are you quoting there? I ask because I’m not sure it’s as simple as that. Virginia was founded under the Church of England and did not permit free exercise of other religions. New England was founded by puritans who were rejecting the existing Church of England as unduly extravagant and unchristian.

Yes, this is all true. The grid isn’t there, the cars aren’t there. The point I was trying to make is that this is probably a losing battle for the Trump Admin, despite the fact that the law appears to clearly preempt state fuel economy standards.

They could even pass a law requiring the use of electric vehicles if they wanted to.

Maybe you could stand to pay people more, though.

They actually used an M5 in Tank Girl. The movie. You know, the one where Ice-T plays a kangaroo-human hybrid and they have to take down a holographic Malcom McDowell.

You’d be surprised how small the M5 is. If you’re in NY, there is a tank museum out on Long Island where you can see an M3, which is the same tank with a different engine and slightly different armor.

Also, the U.S. MBT used in the 1960s was the M60 and the M60A1. The M48 was introduced in 1948 and used through the sixties, but was primarily phased out in favor the M60 (and variants) until those were replaced by the M1 in the 1980s. Just thought you might want to mention that.

What did you like about Gustave? For me, Gustave was not the center of the movie, rather Zero was. The story is told from Zero’s perspective, of course, but I also couldn’t find a way to identify with Gustave. I found him unlikable.

Macguffin’s exist in order to create action among the characters. The interaction among the characters tells you something about those characters and, ultimately, what the story is about. The plot of anything is just the series of events. The painting creates the action among the characters in Grand Budapest Hotel. It

The painting is the macguffin, not Agatha.

Sorry took the weekend off from commenting on the internet, but I’ll defend myself on that. I do think that if you removed Ronan’s character, that movie isn’t about anything. Without her, the movie is almost inexplicable. Old Zero, keeps the hotel open in the 1960s because it’s his connection to his Agatha who died

This is right. His movies are very often contrasting his highly structured worlds with the messiness of actual life. The one that gets me is Life Aquatic, but I know that others don’t care for it. Moonrise Kingdom is also amazing. Grand Budapest is, to me, his worst film because he goes overboard on the structure.

That’s really interesting. I had a YJ that I got new in 1995. It wasn’t particularly well built, imo, but maybe I’m just remembering it wrong.

How about you want to recreate the Oregon Trail with a modern vehicle? So, you’re going to drive from Independence, Missouri, across Kansas, Nebraska, through Wyoming, pass through the Rockies in Idaho, and stop in Portland. And you’re going to do it off-road.

Lemme ask a dumb question: If you’re spending $45k on an “off-road” truck, is a Jeep Rubicon really better than a Colorado ZR2?

This makes me wonder what is the best 911 if you actually want to use it as a tourer? This sounds like a fine sports car. People always complain when the newest 911 comes out that it’s bigger than before and that it is now a grand tourer and not a sports car. That is, of course, never true. Anyway, this car isn’t
