Couldn't have put it better myself.
Couldn't have put it better myself.
Patrick Rothfuss mentioning Jim Butcher nearly put me into a coma from the combined awesomeness.
The past two live episodes with PFT (Deep Blue Sea and Lake Placid) were absolutely hysterical, in case you ever want to give HDTGM another shot.
It's one of the better depictions of parental grief out there. I love Pet Sematary so much, though The Shining and Salem's Lot will always be my favorite.
The Paying Guests was gorgeous.
The scene where they're prepping to storm the castle and Andre lets out the world's most deafening fart was amazing. He sounded like the sweetest man.
Done!
Shit, this just reminded me that I promised a buddy that I would read The Wind Up Bird Chronicles.
I finished The Girl on the Train which was well characterized but rather predictable. Still, it got me through some long bus rides home from work.
I just finished Tana French's The Likeness, which was every bit as engaging as her previous novel. It reminded me a little of The Secret History, except half as long and with fewer dickheads.
Read more of Sarah Waters' The Paying Guests and am loving it. I'm a sucker for books set in post-war Britain.
I just finished Broken Monsters and really enjoyed it. I'll be checking out Beukes' other work.
Oh, Bel Canto is so gorgeous. I highly recommend her memoir of her friendship with the writer Lucy Grealy, Truth and Beauty. And after that read Grealy's Autobiography of a Face. I mean, you don't HAVE to, but they are sooooo good.
I spent the weekend in Gettysburg with my history buff husband, so late at night when we were done wandering the (gorgeous, immense, and emotionally draining) battlefield and eating our weight in steak at The Dobbin House* we were in our hotel room…watching the blu-ray of Gettysburg. BAYONETS!!!
Ha! I JUST posted the same quote from Happy Endings.
Best line of the night. Second place goes to all of the reactions to Dennah's face, which was reminiscent of when Myaaaaaax gave Dave a perm in Happy Endings.
That's a gorgeous show. Aden Young is phenomenal.
Rush is absolutely one of my favorite sports movies. If you haven't seen Senna yet it's fantastic.
Last night I had house hotel, so I watched You're Next and looooooved it. The Aussie girlfriend was so badass I was cheering. Then I watched Poltergeist right before I went to bed, which was brilliant since my husband was partying at a friend's house and I was alone with nothing but dark rooms and probably a sneering…
