@Krondonian: I second on the Google Truth. And frankly, it's the one of the easiest and most widely useful. I'm one of the six people who reads this site and doesn't have an iPhone, so as cool as a Gawker app sounds, I would never get to use it.
@zia: It's not dramatic, but I used the same method on my router and the connection hasn't dropped since.
We used this on our network at my old job. This ran at log-on for all of our 300+ users. It was incredibly convenient when working the helpdesk. Users could actually tell you what computer they were using so that you could remote in. It made troubleshooting so much quicker too.
Can it sync a local Calendar to a shared calendar?
