The ship has been interned by a belligerent foreign power. Based on my understanding of The Sea, the honorable thing would be for the crew to scuttle the Ever Given rather than let it fall into enemy hands.

He won the record back in 2010 and continues to live to this day? Am I misreading that?
This was a story about a guy hitchhiking to get home from college because his mom is sick and he catches a ride with a dead guy who happens to be wearing a pin that says “I Rode The Lightning” or something like that about a roller coaster. The name of the story/novella is Riding The Lightning (or whatever the name of…
That’s what “ride the lightning” has always meant to me (except for, I think, there is a Stephen King short story or novella by that name. Maybe it’s just similar. But it isn’t about the electric chair. I think the phrase in that story refers to a roller coaster.)
I had to look up the phrase; I had it confused with “ride the tiger”, & I was thinking they thought he had drugs.
Presumably the owners may want to transit the canal again, regardless of the disposition of this specific ship.
Thomas Middleditch is what you’d get if you asked someone to draw a caricature of a white man running a pick-up artist seminar at a gaming convention.
He looks like a poorly shaved garden gnome with a pituitary gland disorder.
He looks like he’s both a sailor and a ballet dancer and terrible at both
Thomas Middleditch description dunking thread:
I always thought it was odd he lived in that dream house, with a beautiful wife, a son who owns a factory and lobster for dinner.. Meanwhile I live in a single room over a bowling alley and under another bowling alley.
Well, after 32 years, their mortgage has probably been paid off, he’s had the same car since the 80s, his kids go to public school, he’s never going to have to pay for college tuition, and his only family vacations come in the form of road trips and contest prizes. The real lede here is that Homer is the kind of…

I had a similar happening in a modular test equipment contract. The previous maker had built poorly ventilated containers for high (up to 9kW) test equipment and so the contract said each container needed temp sensing. I designed the system with internal baffles to direct external air to the test equipment and the…
That is true, it’s a tool most often abused by large businesses with deep pockets and lobbying power. It’s not often a small business is looking to dupe its customers like JD is here.
Blanket/absolute statements that start with “any time,” “always,” “never,” and their ilk can get us in trouble a lot of the time. I used to work for a furniture company that made organic mattresses. This company was facing the prospect of submitting all of its products to expensive and time-consuming fire testing that…
I know zippy about tractors except that I want one. Does JD have a virtual monopoly? Can people shop else ware or does JD have machines that others do not?
Are you kidding? I’m a Dominos driver in NC and the worse the weather the less the tips. It’s been raining for 3 days and under 40°. I’ve worked a nine hour shift each of those days and have made at least 20 deliveries each night and have gotten less than $20 in tips each night. Come on people we make less than…
It’s been rough in my Dallas apartment complex; yesterday was the first one with pretty much full power, though I know people who haven’t had it for three days, as well as some who never lost it at all. Water has still been off and on, as apartments all around me have burst pipes. The roads have inches of ice and…
“That really sucks lady!”
