Ugh. Dammit. I normally do play Far Cry games, and I totally recognize they’re pandering to woke liberals here, and I still want this stupid game.

I just hope this one pivots back to sci-fi mutants like the original did. Superpowered mutant rednecks sound okay by me.

The new footage featured the game’s “guns for hire” system: fleshed-out NPCs who back up players with unique skills like sniping and driving a helicopter.

Uggggggh. Be it Assassin’s Creed or Far Cry, I have literally never used a “guns for hire” feature in a game, and I’m not going to start now.

“Hey gamers, we’ve got

Indeed. And it may be a good argument for Congress to decriminalize it as many states have done. They’ll just have to decide what they want most. An incarcerated population of non-violent offenders, or a population of skilled workers who will (and absolutely should) be held to the same standards of responsibility and

Well...she looks red to me, but yeah, more or less.

You know, I do miss Gizmodo Porn Girl, but that’s a pretty awesome header illustration.

Yeah, if I were employed there, I’d scratch my head and think it’s an odd email, but honestly, I’ve never gotten a CEO email that hasn’t provoked that reaction a little, and one about fucking is at least entertaining.

More to the point, there’s nothing in the email that seems to single anyone out or encourage

“holed up”

One of the features advertised on the outside of the 4DX auditorium at the Downtown Seattle Regal was “ticklers”.

TICKLERS.

Not sure. Really not my area of expertise. Just, seems like a better idea than not saving it, I suppose?

All good questions. I don’t know how many people want this, but it definitely seems like a question Sony should be interested in. But customer goodwill is only important if it moves enough units (that wouldn’t move otherwise) to justify the cost, and companies are risk-averse.

Perhaps you can clear up another thing for me, as I’m not a sports guy. Is Madden ‘06 your favorite? What makes one year of that game better than another year? Do they change up the mechanics at all, or just the rosters?

Yeah, keeping a copy of the source code for future engineers and aficionados to figure out how to decipher is probably more doable than making it playable now, with copyright law and market conditions being such major considerations.

Asking customers to act as archivers is just pushing the labor off onto the people who have the fewest resources.

No one’s “asking them” to do anything. I’m just saying, it’s not something the companies are going to do themselves unless there’s money in it, and as much as I value it in theory, it won’t happen for

Never played that one.

Haven’t played it since I bought and played through it last year, but it worked great. I remember being impressed by the draw distances in that opening city level - got my ass sniped from across the map multiple times (and sniped right back in return).

Blergh. You have my sympathies, and you continue to validate my decision not to upgrade my gaming box yet. Compatibility mode can sometimes tackle it, but if W10 breaks the old-school DRM, getting help from the pirates may be the only workaround.

All part of the same discussion though, I suppose. New OS is kinda like

Which ones? I also have a bunch of old Star Wars games and they’re mostly running pretty well for me (Win 7 box).

Agreed on all counts.

How much they want for that service?

Fair. I understand you disagree with what I said then, but you didn’t say much about why. My perspective on this has shifted a bit in the intervening years, owing mostly to living in a city where the housing prices have gotten insane.

I don’t really have a solution here, but I’m curious what your take is on the issue.
