I was totally in to it, but then Wonder Woman shows up out of nowhere and confused me. I don't see how she can fit into this film (or the universe it seems to be setting up) without significant set up. Warner Brothers seems to be going the Marvel route by emphasizing corporate synergy and continuity over what might

Gillian Anderson is a legitimately great actress who never got her due. I've never really liked "X-Files," but have thought as much since seeing "The House of Mirth" eons ago. And she's usually the best thing about whatever cheapo BBC miniseries she's been in over the past decade. In a perfect world she'd be

Yes. It's even the worst when it comes to writing headlines that deliberately withhold information to get you to click (something which they are so shameless about it's kind of laughable at times). They never reveal the story in the headlines. So "Barak Obama said X about Y" always becomes "You won't believe what

Adblock in chrome removed everything for me by default. The awful video loop on the side of the comment section (which brings the browser to a halt everytime it loads a new one) and the massive Taboola ads at the bottom of every article.

Apropos of nothing: I just installed ad-block and this site runs 100% better. Seriously, you all should do it if you haven't. This isn't spam, I've just been really pissed over how slow the ads make this site run over the past few months.

This is old. And not especially good.

Studying/passage of time montage, while cliche, would have done wonders.

"Another Period" also mines the incest theme for humor. A lot of the jokes are lame/obvious, but there's a reveal in the pilot's brother/sister sex scene that's the funniest thing in the series thus far.

Janeane Garafello hasn't aged since the late 90s. Maybe that's the gay in me, though, because I idolized her as an awkward adolescent in the 90s. Maybe I can't see her flaws as a consequence.

The video ads that re position your browser every time they play are really annoying.

I don't understand the dislike for origins. It's very much more of the same, in reference to "City." Only its plot is way less nonsensical. Batman fighting 8 different b-level comic book assassins works better from a narrative stand point than "City" cramming every single major villain ever into the game, no matter

I wish more modern novels would have revised second editions. Victorians did it all the time, to the point that first editions were often seen as rough drafts (partially because many were serialized, but still). Although, frequently subsequent editions were much worse that earlier ones, so it's not foolproof.

I do think a limitation of this show is that, at least in season 1, each character has very clearly defined, somewhat one dimensional, skill sets. It will get really cheesy really fast if in season 2 there are a bunch more scenes where the sensates tackle obstacles over and over again like a swiss army knife, over

I don't get the sense that the sensates have complete control over when and how they feel each others emotions yet, though. Nor do I think the writers have yet to fully outline the extent to which the sensates, once they come into their power, will either be a true hivemind or just a group of individuals who can

It will be a vastly different show once Keillor's gone. By most accounts it's going to refocus on music. I don't see how it could maintain its traditional focus on Minnesota and Midwestern tinged humor with Thile at the head (dude's from California).

I do think it's clear, though, that the different sensates have different moral and ethical codes. Some will do things that others would not. This is made clearer in a scene in the final episode (although it's not really taken as seriously as it could have), but I do hope the show will explore it more in future

It could have been boring, but apart from the emotional impact, the birth scenes actually relayed valuable character information about the contexts in which they were born and their parentage.

Yes. This is an A episode of television if I've ever seen one and the moment I was fully on board with this series, despite its flaws up to that point. And the remaining two episodes are awesome, so it's all paid off well.

If you want your heart crushed, read the wikipedia entry on "Dogs Faithful to Owners After Death"

I like Nerdist fine, but it's mostly carried by the strength of its guests. They've had some really great episodes, especially the stuff they've done with little interviewed voice acting and cartoon directing type people. They can also be good when the guest is naturally interesting or funny. But Hardwick's not a
