That pretty much describes my own situation twenty-five years ago. But the article wasn't talking about me. Or you. It was talking about a strategy for deciding between jobs, and the ARTICLE used the example of $100k and $50k. It's inherent in this discussion that we're comparing $50k with $100k. Your example - which

Holy crap I wish I had $350 laying around right now! I want one of these things so bad I can taste it. And it tastes like CHICKEN!

For the reasons you've named ...

I only depend on turn-by-turn in cities I'm completely unfamiliar with and under time pressure. When I have time, I look it up on the map on my laptop in the hotel room, create a set of directions for myself along with (this is important) noting which streets are north-south and which

Big fan of Microcenter from an in-store perspective. Great recommendation!

I'm pointing out that there's a HUGE difference in lifestyle between 100k and 50k a year. The example he uses is 100k/year at $50/hr, which is close as dammit to 40 hrs a week - a 9 to 5 job with weekends free. 50k/year at $500/hr is lovely - you're only working 100 hours a year - but as free time expands, so do costs

Not many people have the opportunity to make $50k/year at $500/hour, and if that person wants to do things that cost money, they're STILL not going to be satisfied with life; they'll have a whole bunch of time to sit around and not do what they want. I've got a lot of hobbies, for instance, and if I only made $50k a

I fail to comprehend the obsession with removing the U2 album. I mean, I'm not likely to listen to it, but it takes up no space and occupies no memory. Weird.

Oh, man. I'd give myself 2 pieces of advice. Bet everything I could lay my hands on on the '85 Royals to win the World Series. Like, 10,000 to 1 odds pre-season; then take the proceeds and buy Microsoft when they IPO. If I get three, it's then "Sell Microsoft and buy Apple when it's $20/share" lol.

Good advice. I started out thinking the same thing, but was unable to avoid it. Had to pay to get a 100' tall tree taken down - $4k (when I made $5.50/hr at the time). Had to pay to tear down a house ($6500 when I made $6.00/hr). That set the tone for the following years. LOL.

LOL! They never really left, honestly. I see lots of them. I don't LIKE them, but I don't HATE them. As a middle aged married dad who works from home, fashion is not nearly as important to me as it is to some. :D

They actually addressed the polarization. I think it's on the apple.com iPhone 6 page where they talk about an improved polarizer for people with prescription sunglasses.

I hated BIG GIANT PHONES for a long time. I worked for a national carrier from 1999 to 2009 and viewed the shrinking of phones as a Good Thing(TM). I made fun of my buddies who carried the huge-ass-handsets. But since I get a phone from work and have my own personal phone, I decided to experiment with the Phablet

That wasn't what he was saying at all. What he was referring to is the trend in Social Media and (dare I say "tumblr") to define oneself as an introvert and claim it as a badge of pride, behind the assumption that introverts are more thoughtful, rational, creative, reasonable - you name it. My daughter - who is quite

Thanks, I'm familiar with it, but there are other ulterior motives for which I want the GPS unit for my DSLR. It uses body-based sensor-shift image stabilization, and when paired with the GPS from the manufacturer, it can use that sensor-shift ability to track stars for long exposures :D

Yeah, I'm a big fan of geotagging. I shoot a lot of nature photography and landscapes, and that stuff is AWESOME. I want the GPS for my DSLR for that very reason :D I'd love to see some statistics about actual crimes related to geotagged images, but I can't find any. Lots of people saying how risky it is, but I only

This is what I came here to say. Gorgeous beans-n-hamhock in an hour ten, lovely golden lentil soup in 30 minutes, just amazing for this sort of thing.

You can also do respectable pulled pork quickly by pressure cooking until it's fork tender (after rub, brown, liquid smoke, etc), cut into cubes and broil, then pull

Of course, you have to be able to BUY the new one, first, eh? Pffft. (miffed about shipping delay for pre-orders)

Yeah, it's great stuff. Unfortunately, my work made it impossible for me to open my pool this year. LOL. But it does work really well.

I'm running a 2008 Mac Pro still, and don't see myself swapping it out anytime soon. 32G RAM, Radeon 6870, 8x3Ghz Xeon, eSata and USB3 card. No reason to change it yet.

Sounds like her touchpad is defective. Mine don't behave that way, and do work decidedly better than most trackpads I've used on less expensive laptops from other manufacturers. I did have an old 17" Macbook Pro that behaved like you describe, and I got it fixed.
