I would argue the original Banjo Kazooie was a perfect game. It’s sequels - Tooie, DK 64, and eventually Nuts & Bolts - were imperfect, and sometimes even bad. The spirit of the original lived in each of these games, but stretched out and topped by a bunch of new ideas which weren’t all great

Well the Doomsday thing was a different case. He did actually die, but then was retconned into just sleeping. But that was just from him being beaten to a pulp, not Kryptonite. It still has the same effect
