I would say that both possible outcomes are true and false. i still think the players' math is correct and what bungie is saying here is not true, but I don't know if it was a worse or better way of getting gear. It certainly was more energy efficient

thats great for you, but is not really proof of anything. the fact that any purple engrams you got from the cave turned out to be crap has nothing to do with you getting them from the cave

Except people weren't doing out for the greens or blues, which did suck, they were doing it for purples which are level locked
