The Model Rules of Professional Conduct prohibit unreasonable expenses. I don’t think it’s illegal. I think it’s unethical and that it could get them sanctioned.

And you’re a lawyer. I didn’t notice that before. So you’re already intimately familiar with another industry in which expenses and labor are often itemized, and you can’t put an unreasonable mark-up on your expenses.
On an old version of NCAA football, whenever you got a short first down with a fullback, the announcer would say “Now that’s a big guy. The coach told him he needed 2 yards, and he said ‘Coach, I can get 2 yards.’ Later, the coach told him he needed 10 yards, and he said ‘Coach, I can get 2 yards.”
Most industries just bundle the costs of parts and labor. Garages could do that too. No one makes garages itemize parts and labor.
Lawyers would get in serious trouble with the bar if they inflated the cost of expenses as a way to pad their hourly costs.
If a restaurant itemized the price of labor and ingredients, and the ingredient price was clearly inflated, I would be annoyed. Just charge the right amount for labor! You know what your labor costs are, and I know how much ingredients cost. You’re not fooling me.
When you pay the expert to install the part in your car, part of what you are compensating them for is what they bring to the transaction. The ease of installation (it doesn’t require you to get your hands dirty!) and the expertise.
I’m just glad there was a story involving dogs and cops that didn’t end in the cops shooting the dogs or shooting at the dogs and hitting an old lady or a child.
I wonder who is paying Roger Federer to grow old.
Holzschreibtischkopfdurchschlagengefühl. It isn’t a real word, but I think you’d be understood.
When you reduce all of King’s work to just parts of the “I have a dream” speech, it’s easy. It isn’t harder than removing his positions on economics or on Vietnam.
But on the bright side, young children are now less likely to be confronted with the fact that George Washington, founding father and champion of liberty, owned slaves.
Two black women make a children’s book about slavery. A bunch of people who haven’t read the book give it one-star reviews on Amazon, people on the internet compete to see who can angrier about how racist the two black women are, and the publisher pulls the book. This is a victory for racial justice and diversity.
I’m sure this is just a case of the Trinidadian author and African-American illustrator being super racist. Why do we even let these people write children’s books? For the sake of diversity, we need to make sure that these Trinidadian and African-American women never make another children’s book.
BBC America does make some shows. Orphan Black is a coproduction between BBC America and a Canadian company. As far as I know, it’s distributed through the rest of the world through the BBC. You’re not wrong!
Why wouldn’t he file a counterclaim here? If she’s lying, he has to sue her now or he waives the right to do so later. If she isn’t, it’s not like filing the counterclaim makes her less likely to win. It isn’t different in that regard than denying the accusation.
But he’s dirty the right way. He’s not a rap-music listening thug. He doesn’t have a lot of natural athleticism, so he just gets out there and scraps.
Having realized their mistake, they will soon trade Smith for literally anyone.
It sounds like at least 6 X-Box versions of elder scrolls are broken too.
(Also, I successfully played both ESs and Fallouts on the PS3. They were glitchy, but mostly playable).
At a certain point, I would have gotten a different console. By the 5th Elder Scroll, that’s on you for continuing to put discs in it.
If we never accused innocent people, there wouldn’t be a problem with the trial tax. As it is, if you’re innocent but there’s evidence against you, there’s a good chance you’ll end up with a worse sentence than someone who actually committed the crime.
