This is the reason that I feel that the Bible should be respected, but taken at face value.

It did happen I saw the movie!
Including what we would, with modern eyes, call fraudulent letters (attributed to Paul) that conveniently told slaves to stay slaves and women to stay out of church.
Well, the “original” Bible itself is the result of extensive editing, redaction, mistranslation, and omission in the service of 5th Century political agendas, so it’s not really surprising those early 19th Century missionaries used similar tactics to serve their own ends.
Oh, wait until you get to The Borgias.
“You’ll see a jump from Genesis 45, and they’ve cut out all the material to Exodus 19,” says Anthony Schmidt, associate curator of Bible and Religion in America at the museum. “What they’ve cut out is the story of the Israelites captivity in Egypt and their eventual liberation and journey to the promised land.”
LOL! Go read a book kid. Shalom-alaikum!
The entire purpose of religion is to give a small group of people power over a larger group of people. It’s not a side effect, it is its essence. And religion is the polar opposite of benevolence.
Well if Buzzfeed were to make a top 10 list of “Countries Really With The Shits,” I’d certainly hope Haiti would be on there.
OK, so I’ll let you onto a bit of information. The label “Christian” like “Yankee”, is a misnomer. It’s like calling Black people Negros or all Latinos Mexican. It was a label placed on a group of people (early Roman Jews) who didn’t quite understand the religion they were practicing because they themselves weren’t…
Look, I think Christianity is dumb, but this is just false.
The Catholic Church and Slavery:
“Anglos appropriated Judaism twisted it and labelled it “Christianity””
The fact that these missionaries hid the parts of the Bible which set it apart from some other religions of the day and which served to empower those missionaries to live their best lives, really says it all. The fact that there are somehow only 3 copies of that “abridged” version of the Bible known to survive manages…
Slavery was more of indentured servitude in the Bible when it came to the Hebrews. Egypt, not so much. If you were flat broke and had debts, you could sell your children (not great!) or basically yourself into slavery.
Ironically, those bibles still didn’t stop rebellions from happening.
“And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.”
Fake Christians: Consider White Supremacy A Religion
Anglos appropriated Judaism twisted it and labelled it “Christianity” to dismantle the Jewish state. But it’s what they do best. Take something culturally significant from a people and bastardize it to serve their own self interests (e.g.White supremacy). Native American culture, Japanese Kanji, Black style, Latino…
...in Jesus name we keep enslaved. Amen.
