I saw Mad Max: Fury Road at almost midnight on a Sunday, which was fine, except I walked out of the theater more pumped than I’ve ever been in my life to run through walls and fight and shit, and it was 2 a.m. on a Monday and the streets were abandoned and I had to go home and go to sleep.

I guess this rule is similar to just being able to take a knee to run out the clock but this was an actual penalty. It’s a silly rule.

However, the rulebook offers an exception to the rule—that the game can end on an offensive procedural penalty…

They certainly called it wrong. That said - why aren’t more people talking about how they called it the way that makes sense? A loss of down penalty at the end of regulation by the offense should result in a turnover and un-timed play for the same reason that the game can’t end on an defensive penalty.
