You are only partially correct about the 2009 date. Prior to 2009, it was up to players & coaches/staff whether they wanted to be on the sidelines for the anthem; it was after that the NFL began requiring it because of $$. Your statement should say “required” instead of “began” because as far back as I can remember

The local radio guys (Steve Raible and Warren Moon) could see the fake coming, and pointed out that Atlanta did not put their FG block team out...instead leaving the regular defense out there. They just assumed that the fake would be called off, and were stunned when they tried it anyways.

Absolutely. It makes me sad that people are going to blame Walsh for this loss, because there were so many ways Pete screwed the pooch.

I’m not here to stop anyone from making fun of Bill, who can be a total asshole. But even a minor eruption can cause a shit ton of problems besides being melted by lava.

Defensive coordinator....

Mayfield went off with some NSF-ESPN taunts

who the hell is professional ball player “all their life”? lololol

It really was a strange explanation from Ball. By his own admission, he was never going to be in any physical danger by helping break up the scuffle, since it wasn’t going to escalate into an actual fight. Nor would he ever get a T for helping steer a teammate back to the bench, as mentioned in the post. So why turn

Look, there’s a lot to hate on with the Ball family, but I would do the same thing in this situation. It’s really dumb to get into a fight during any sports competition. People who do get into fights like this are idiots and Lonzo is right to think it’s fucking stupid.

Fixed.

I wish I had a job where I could just write the same article every week or two and just change a few of the words toward the top to match recent events.

Oh god, that everyone is a midfielder “formation.” Our strength is our athleticism so let’s not learn anything but lean in on that. Let’s never get smarter—I blocked that out. Mind you, that’s always been the m.o. even when we are doing better—every good game that was 90 minutes of heroics means that you were never in

It was a 3-6-1 and was used as an example in Soccer for Dummies of what not to use as a coach.

Now playing

USMNT had a chance to pivot after dumping Klinsmann. When they took the ostensibly safe play by hiring Arena, I was fairly certain that it would result in this sort of calamitous end. It was either this, or go to the World Cup and let themselves be utterly humiliated on an even bigger and brighter stage (see: 1998).

I’m putting money on the fact that Billy doesn’t know the difference between Schalke and Hamburg, since they have similar color schemes and have regular American contributors.
