Bro, the road is regularly blocked while driving, just because it’s a demonstration you don’t agree with doesn’t make it any more difficult to drive around.

People love this show, but yeah, I couldn't make it through.  Watching it fall apart over and over doesn't give me the feels I'm looking for. 

If you are actually blocked in from behind that would mean numerous motorists are going down the same one way street.

People act like this isn’t what you do when the road is blocked by literally any object.

That’s 100% of the issue.

In that video by the time they have the car surrounded and are imminently about to pull her out she’s 100% justified in just mashing the gas.

It’s all still crazily tangled up with the prison industry in a lot of areas. There’s a ton of money at stake locking up people for minor drug offenses and of course a powerful lobby in place to ensure continueance of the status quo.
