Well, there's black gospel singers and Appalachian string bands all doing a pretty great job of making music that can move even this atheist heart, so I wouldn't worry about DC Talk and Skillet being the Maroon 5s at Jesus Camp. Are you aware of the irony in stating you're worried about a "safe space" for evangelical

That's all well and good, and it seems very important to you that Christian music be removed from the stereotypical box it lives in, but I could care less, being honest. My wife worked at a Planned Parenthood in KS and now works for a queer rights organization, so I'm well versed in the systemic bigotry that lurks

Why are they mutually exclusive? I think Townes is the greatest songwriter ever (including Dylan) but Sufjan wrote a beautiful, intimate record, too. If you haven't liked his past work, at least give this a listen with an open mind; it may surprise you.

And Jews, too, if we're getting real 😄

You've definitely got the facts on your side with that criticism! That guy could be a Midwestern state's governor, he's so shitty.

Wow! Yeah, a lot of lifers have shorter lives, to be sure. Glad he's happy and I'm sure he has a bunch of great 60s PacNW stories, anyway!

if anybody digs this sound and hasn't heard the Wailers, check em out! Norton records reissued a bunch of their stuff, same greatness.

Can't wait! Love everything these Anarchist Canucks put out. That chart on UXO made me realize how bullshit "working inside the system" is when it comes to music.

Or, even worse, love songs that replace "baby" with "Jesus." Possibly the height of banality.

What a great fucking record. i can't imagine how difficult a lot of this was to create emotionally, but I hope he simultaneously got to a better place mentally as well as being proud of this piece of art.

After a couple spins I gotta say I totally disagree about the lyrical prowess on this album. I feel like most of it is fairly cliched "Moon/June" style writing, unlike a lot of DCFC's previous work. Ah well, I'll listen to the older stuff 😀

Goddam, right?

That's fanfuckingtastic! I was talking with a couple friends today about that era and it dawned on us we had kinda forgotten Metallica made two great and two unassailable records at one point.

The book is a dumpster fire, interesting that the movie is better. That's a good coupla actors, though, sure that helped.

The Faint opened for No Doubt and I went for them but unfortunately the jackaninny ass crowd booed them off the stage, so I got to see half of one set for my concert going dollar.

Seconded. Also, very well put.

Welcome, and great choice!

That's cool as shit, good on you.

Excellent choice, that song kills live!

Upvoted for those Who songs!
